Porcelain stone

Porcelain stone

Porcelain stone is classified in family of marble and metamorphic stones and it has a very long history of usage as façade stone. Because of its bright and mostly white color it is used in tropical areas in order to decrease heat transfer into the building. Its main composition is calcite, and it is classified as thin stones. The color of Porcelain stone is white and it can easily be assessed by little changes in its lodes, and it does not have color diversity. Porcelain stone is produced in different types of  Aligoudarz Porcelain stone, Azna Porcelain stone, Fars Porcelain stone, Sirjan Porcelain stone, Laibid Porcelain stone.  Some of its important characters are high strength degree, resistance to grinding, tension resistance, bend resistance, cutting ability, and ability of being polished. Generally, Porcelain stone is cut and processed in slab sizes. Porcelain stone has processing ability into bookmatch and formmatch sizes which causes double beauty, as well. The most common use of Porcelain stone is in internal design of the building, external façade of the building, and watering places like toilets, because of its bright color and its beautiful harmony. In addition, it is used in stone-pavement, floor, roof, pavement, streets, and foundation of roads. Due to its high resistance against coldness, heat, and detergents; it can widely be used as in official departments, restaurants, medical centers, and commercial centers. Chalipa stone industry is ready to provide Porcelain stone in large sizes, and can collaborate with customers as the way they order. Porcelain stone is a kind of decorative stone that is classified as metamorphic stone, and its most important use is in construction as interior and exterior façade. This type of stone is the result of recrystallization of different minerals that were in high temperature and high pressure, repeatedly.

What is porcelain stone?

Porcelain stone is a kind of calcareous stone which recrystallize because of being affected by internal  factors such as high temperature, high pressure. Geology experts classify this rock as decorative metamorphic stone.  Its minerals are calcite and  wollastonite as main minerals, and hematite, graphite, quartz, and simonite as secondary minerals. Porcelain stone is from marble family which has differences in minerals composition and metamorphosis level. Marble stone with large white or bright grey or cream crystals is called porcelain stone or crystal. Besides, because in thin layers, it sounds like porcelain with a knock, it is called so. It is not very divert in color, and it is mostly seen as white large crystal stone, however, it is seen as dark and light grey ( Due to carbon existence), pink and red (Due to hematite existence), green (Due to chloride and different silicates  existence), and cream and lemon-colored( Due to limonite existence), too. So, this coloring is due to existence of different minerals. This kind of stone has weight of 2700 kg/ , general resistance between 19 and 140 Mpa, pressure resistance of approximately 110 Mpa, elasticity of approximately 6 to 15 Mpa, and tension resistance of 4 Mpa.  So, it is an intermediate stone in strength and resistance. Existance of quartz increases the strength of stone, and as more quartz exists in the stone, the stone is stronger.

Types of porcelain stones

Azna porcelain stone

Azna porcelain stone is one of the most valuable building stones. Due to its outstanding features such as high strength and resistance to pressure and mechanical shocks, resistance to cold, heat and detergents, excellent sanding, and white color and some very beautiful and unmixed yellow and cream halos, it can be used uniformly in all parts of construction and commercial projects and luxury places. Chalipa stone industry has the ability to supply large sizes of Azna porcelain stone for mass builders, architects, and all customers.

Porcelain stone price

The price of porcelain stone varies according to the type of coloring, the type of mine, the degree of quality and the cutting method. Among the largest mines of porcelain stone in Iran, we can mention: Aligudarz porcelain and crystal mine, Azna, Tang Hana Neyriz porcelain, Laibid porcelain and crystal and Red Godar of Moteh area, Najafabad, Yazd and Sirjan mines. Porcelain stone is often cut and processed into slabs (large dimensions) or tiles (for flooring) and smooth cutting equipment is used for this purpose. The low porosity level in this stone has resulted in no necessity to use special resins and other materials in its processing stage. The supply and sale of this type of stone in the market is in the form of meters that is cut in a certain width and thickness but in the desired length. The type of color and the absence of impurities and weathering, as well as the quality of the sanding and the polishing method play a role in the transparency and shine of this type of stone and increase its price. Items that have a larger surface and greater thickness induce a better texture in this stone, which has provided the possibility of large and uniform cuts. When buying and regardless of the price of this product, pay attention to the place where the stone is going  to be used, and make an accurate and practical purchase for yourself according to the real need and consumption.

Usage of porcelain stone

The most important use of porcelain stone is as decorative stone in the interior and exterior façade of buildings. Today, due to the increasing demand for the use of travertine stones due to their very high diversity, the demand for porcelain stones has decreased, but it is still useful to be used in the facade of luxury buildings or medical centers. If you have traveled to the south of the country, you have definitely noticed that the facades of most buildings are made of this type of stone. Due to its light color, this type of stone absorbs less heat and induces a feeling of coolness both psychologically and technically. Porcelain stone has an acceptable resistance to weathering and high pressures, even this resistance can be seen in cuts with low thickness. This type of stone has a very low permeability to water, which makes it suitable for use in centers that require constant washing and frequent cleaning. So, its use includes hospitals, medical centers, toilets and bathrooms. Producing decorative accessories or using it as a wall in street tables and brooks are the other uses of this type of stone. High cutting and polishing, ideal compressive strength, good impact strength, resistance to climate change, impermeability and high degree of hardness and optimal useful life, have made the use of this product attractive.

Porcelain crystal stone

Crystal porcelain stone, due to its visible crystal structure and light scattering properties, is a good choice for making interior decorations, such as sculptures and attractive decors. Light transmittance is more common in marble, but crystalline porcelain also possesses this property. Porcelain stone has the ability to engrave and draw attractive patterns and drawings on it, which certainly the light transmission property and the presence of crystals, gives it a distinctive and brilliant effect, but the weaknesses of this type of stone cannot be ignored. Porcelain stone, or crystal stone, does not have much color variation which limits the selection. On the other hand, it absorbs air, so it may not have initial freshness after a while.
